Skin Rejuvenation: Eyes
The signs of aging become apart especially around our eyes. The skin around your eyes is thinner than the rest of the skin on your face and requires special care.
With age, eyelashes become shorter and thinner and can begin to age your eyes. FDA-approved ophthalmic solutions, such as Latisse®, are great ways to regenerate eyelashes. Within a 16 week period, you can see longer, thicker and darker eyelashes.
When applying solutions like Latisse®, do not apply to the lower lid or in the eye and blot excess solution with a tissue with the included sterile applicator. Contacts must be removed before applying Latisse® and wait 15 minutes before reinserting afterwards.
Lateral canthal lines, or lines around the eyes, can give away your age. Botox®, the only FDA-approved drug treatment option, is particularly effective for relaxing crow’s feet in the outer corners of your eyes and removing under-eye puffiness, dark circles and bags.
Botox® is the most popular non-surgical cosmetic treatment with more than six million Botox® treatments administered each year. Once administered, it can take 24 to 72 hours for full results to be apparent.
The tear trough in the inner corner of the eye can look more hollowed as we age. Fatty tissue is lost, the skin and muscles of the lower lid lose elasticity and no longer remain tightly tethered in place. This can cause your eyes, and overall appearance, to look more tired. No matter how much makeup is worn, the face can still look exhausted and unhealthy. Hyaluronic acid fillers like Restylane® can add life to your inner corners and brighten your appearance without the need for surgery.
This dermal filler will expand the tissue of the tear trough making it look smoother and healthier. With the area no longer sunken, dark bags can also be eliminated or reduced. Best of all, results will be immediately apparent. Patients will leave their appointment looking fresh, rejuvenated and years younger.
Hyaluronic acid is a substance found naturally in the body and is essential to building healthy tissue. As it binds with the skin cells, volume is added under the skin. Over time, the filler will continue to stimulate the production of collagen and results will continue to improve.
These treatments will take around 30 minutes to perform and patients are encouraged to remain upright for the next four hours. Strenuous activity and exercise should be postponed for 24 hours as well as the application of makeup.
Skin Rejuvenation: Lips
While the eyes usually show signs of aging first, the lips aren’t far behind. Vertical lines around the mouth due to declining collagen are common problems we face as we age. However, there are skin renewal treatments that can help to soften or eliminate aging concerns.
A combination of Botox® or Dysport® to relax the band of muscle surrounding the lips and softening the lines and hyaluronic acid fillers, like Restylane® and Juvéderm®, to help prevent future lines from forming are a powerful force against aging. This combination can replace the lost collagen and minimize or even erase these lines.
